Recently I have been taking on new customers around Bristol and Somerset, doing some hard pruning, and getting into the Christmas spirit!

The winter is a time to slow down and embrace the cooler short days and bring the general pace of life down to a slow meander.

I was recently put in touch with a new customer using the Bark app. They needed a Cotoneaster pruned hard back, to keep the public pathway clear. It’s not advised to hard prune these, especially at this time of year, but I took care to tease out new growth and maintain that, while not cutting back into dead wood.

Here’s the result…

I replaced two rotting gates with a new section of fencing…

I will also be starting on a large established garden near Bridgewater this week. This will be an ongoing maintenance visit for the customer, and I am looking forward to getting started!

There aren’t many weeks left till Christmas. I will be doing a few bits and working on some creative ideas for next year, watching tv ( currently The Wild Ones, on Apple TV ) and have a go at the GCHQ Christmas puzzle ( downloadable here https://www.gchq.gov.uk/news/gchq-christmas-challenge-2025 )

So to all my customers, past, present and future, Have a wonderful Christmas, and maybe see you in 2026!
